Research in the group of Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Lenhof
In line with the research of the CBI formulated through its motto
"From disease to therapy with Bioinformatics", we are focussing on topics and problems from Biomedicine and Pharmacy. We are developing algorithms and software (BN++, GeneTrail) for target identification and for studying the molecular basis of diseases. Moreover, we are working on novel approaches for cancer diagnosis based on seroreactivity and microRNA profiles and we are studying the role of the immune system in cancer.
Another focal point is the study of molecular interactions, especially the interactions between proteins, and the development of innovative methods for protein docking. In order to accelerate the implementation of new approaches, we are developing BALL (Biochemical ALgorithms Library), a framework for rapid software prototyping in the area of Molecular Modeling and Bioinformatics.
